I am so glad we have Ella in Daisy Scouts. The Girl Scouts are an organization for girls that promotes so many good ideals that we find important. Though we try to promote these characteristics on our kids, it doesn’t hurt having them enforced with other kids from other adults.
Straight from their webpage the GSA explain their goals very well:
Girl Scouts of the USA is the world’s preeminent organization dedicated solely to girls—all girls—where, in an accepting and nurturing environment, girls build character and skills for success in the real world. In partnership with committed adult volunteers, girls develop qualities that will serve them all their lives, like leadership, strong values, social conscience, and conviction about their own potential and self-worth.
Though she has been going to meetings for a few months, this weekend her newly formed troupe became official scouts at their investiture. They received their pins and the badges they’ve earned so far.
The Girl Scout Promise: “On my honor, I will try: to serve God and my country, to help people at all times, and to live by the Girl Scout law.”
I will do my best to be
Honest and fair,
Friendly and helpful,
Considerate and caring,
Courageous and strong, and
Responsible for what I say and do
Respect myself and others,
Respect authority,
Use resources wisely,
Make the world a better place,
And be a sister to every Girl Scout.
